AIDA 3

Advanced Freediver

This course offers more advanced Freediving theory which allows the student to appreciate the physiology and techniques behind diving deeper. It helps to improve freediving performance as well as your safety and rescue skills. This course consists of 3 theory sessions, 2 pool sessions and 4 open water sessions.

The aim of the course is to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to independently plan and participate in freediving activities with similarly experienced freediving buddies. The AIDA3 course also develops new skills in the most common disciplines of freediving: Static Apnea STA, Dynamic Apnea DYN and Constant Weight CWT.

Content:

  • Theory - Physics, Physiology, Mammalian Diving Reflex, Ethics, Training Concepts, Planning Dive Sessions, Lung Volume Measurments

  • Equalization - Deeper equalisation using Frenzel Technique

  • Techniques - Freefall & Buoyancy, Warm Up's, CO2 Training Tables

  • Safety - Advanced Safety and Rescue Training

  • Pool - Static & Dynamic Pool Training

  • Open Water - Free Immersion, Constant Weight

Duration & Requirements:

  • Duration: 3.5 Days

  • Requirements: 2:45 minutes STA; 55 meters DYN, 24 meters CWT, theoretical exam.

  • Prerequisites: Have completed the AIDA2 freediver course or equivalent, or have participated in 5 AIDA ranked comps, within the last 6 years with AIDA ranked results of at least 35m CWT, 3.45min static and 75m DYN and have passed the AIDA2 Exam, Be 18 years of age or older (16 years with parent or guardian consent)

(Certification as an AIDA3 freediver is dependent upon reaching the target performances required by AIDA)

Equipment:

  • Wetsuit (5mm minimum)

  • Diving fins

  • Snorkel

  • Face-mask

These can be rented on the day at the course location.
